Trash or Treasure?

Can a trash bag be stylish and luxurious?

Louis Vuitton thinks so. The luxury brand has created the Raindrop Besace bag, a trash bag- inspired tote, for Spring. It was recently featured in the April '10 issue of Elle in a spread styled by the amazingly cool Kate Lanphear:

I think it works with this look and is much more tolerable in black. I wouldn't buy it, even if it didn't cost a whopping $1,960. It's just not my style. But I guess "One man's trash is another man's treasure" applies in this situation. Hehe.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue...

If you're a lover of "The Devil Wears Prada" like myself, you'll recognize this line uttered by the frigidly fabulous Miranda Priestly: "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking." While it's true that floral print in Spring is nothing new, it's a feminine and fresh classic that's a must-have for a warm weather wardrobe. Here are some great pieces that will give your look a little flower power:

He Said, She Said

"I don't find clothes sexy at all. I find people sexy, and I find personalities fascinating and sexy and appealing and charming. So a sexy girl wrapped in a sheet is a sexy girl, and an un-sexy girl in a low-cut dress is still an un-sexy girl" -Marc Jacobs

Alexander McQueen's Final Collection

Style.com describes Alexander McQueen's collection as being "a poetic medieval beauty that dealt with religious iconography while recapturing memories of his own past collections".

Here are 4 looks from the collection:

Even though it was only 80% finished at the time of his death, McQueen's final work is absolutely exquisite.

Chic Chambray

Hannah MacGibbon's patchwork take on the "Texas Tuxedo", denim jacket or top worn with jeans, for Chloe's S/S 2010 collection was a prime example of casual cool. While I won't be recreating this denim look, it definitely made me crave a blue chambray shirt.

This shirt gives off such an easy, breezy vibe. I'll definitely wear it with black pants or leggings and girly accessories like a strand of pearls or leopard print flats.

For the Love of Lanvin

(Lanvin Spring 2008)

I was flipping through the pages of my French textbook and was pleasantly surprised to see a picture of Lily Donaldson (and the back of Raquel Zimmermann) from Lanvin's Spring 2008 runway show. I was thoroughly delighted because I'm a huge fan of Alber Elbaz's work at the French house. There had been rumors swirling around latel that Elbaz would be replacing Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. But reps at Chanel confirmed that Lagerfeld wasn't going anywhere. I think it's good that Lanvin won't be losing Alber Elbaz. His creations for the house's Spring (first row, below) and Fall 2010 (second row, below) collections were incredible and oozed French chicness and femininity. And he always finds the perfect balance when using embellishment and color. He's a master.

Soda Can Curls

I like Gaga's soda can curls in the new "Telephone" video...

But I like Naomi's wayyyy better. And I think it's safe to assume Gaga was inspired by this fabulous photo by
Ellen von Unwerth.
